Grab your crash helmet and a bulk supply of antacids, folks, because Arkansas vs LSU week is upon us once again. This is the rivalry where a giant golden boot is on the line, which is objectively the weirdest trophy in the SEC and therefore the best one. The Razorbacks want to hog-tie the Tigers in their own swamp. LSU wants to turn Fayetteville into a bayou annex. Somebody's fan base is going to be insufferable at Thanksgiving, and somebody's going to suddenly "focus on basketball season." Let's make a prediction before the chaos unfolds.
Look at that road. That's basically what the path to victory looks like for both of these teams: long, dry, and full of things lurking just off the shoulder that want to bite you. Arkansas has to travel into Tiger Stadium, affectionately known as Death Valley, a place where the crowd noise has been officially classified as a weather event. Meanwhile, LSU fans would tell you every road in the SEC eventually leads back to Baton Rouge, preferably past a crawfish stand.
Here's the thing about Arkansas: when the Razorbacks are good, they're terrifying, and when they're bad, they're terrifying in a completely different way, like a rollercoaster with a hand-written safety sign. Arkansas wants to run the football approximately 900 times, control the clock, and drag LSU into a mud wrestle where technique matters less than pure hog energy. If the
