How Many Super Bowls Mike Tomlin - Free Printable PDF 2025

When you talk about consistency in the National Football League, one name inevitably enters the conversation: Mike Tomlin. Since taking the helm of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007, Tomlin has built a reputation as one of the most reliable and resilient head coaches in the sport. He has never posted a losing season, a remarkable feat in an era of parity and constant roster turnover. Yet for all his regular-season success, the question fans ask again and again is a simple one: how many Super Bowls has Mike Tomlin actually won?

The Answer: One Super Bowl Victory in Two Appearances

Mike Tomlin has reached the Super Bowl twice as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he has won it once. His lone championship came in February 2009, when the Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27–23 in Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa. At just 36 years of age, Tomlin became the youngest head coach ever to win a Super Bowl, a record that still stands as a testament to his immediate impact on the franchise. That game is remembered for Santonio Holmes' toe-tapping touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone, one of the most iconic plays in Super Bowl history, as well as James Harrison's stunning 100-yard interception return just before half-time.

The road to Super Bowl XLIII was anything but straightforward. The Steelers navigated a brutal schedule and dispatched the San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs before meeting the Cinderella-story Cardinals. Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald nearly stole the show in the fourth quarter, but Ben Roethlisberger's perfect strike to Holmes with 35 seconds remaining sealed the victory. It was Pittsburgh's sixth Lombardi Trophy, cementing the franchise's status as one of the most decorated in NFL history, and it announced Tomlin as a coach capable of delivering on the biggest stage.

Two years later, Tomlin led the Steelers back to the Super Bowl, this time facing the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Texas. Despite a spirited comeback attempt, Pittsburgh fell 31–25, undone by early turnovers and Aaron Rodgers' clinical performance. It remains Tomlin's most recent appearance in the big game, and it is the result that fuels much of the debate surrounding his legacy.

The Legacy Question

So, to summarise: one Super Bowl win from two appearances. Critics argue that a decade and a half without returning to the Super Bowl is a blemish on an otherwise glittering record, particularly given the talent that has passed through Pittsburgh. Supporters counter that Tomlin's sustained excellence — no losing seasons, multiple playoff berths, and a culture of accountability — is rarer than championships themselves. In a league where coaches are often discarded after a single rough campaign, Tomlin's longevity speaks volumes. Whether he adds a second ring before his career ends remains to be seen, but his place among the league's
