I'll be honest with you — I went down a proper rabbit hole the other night trying to pin down Jake Ferguson's date of birth, and it turned into one of those lovely deep dives where you end up knowing far more about a player than you ever planned. For anyone wondering the same thing: Jake Ferguson was born on 23 January 2001. That makes him a Capricorn (just barely, mind you) and, more importantly, part of that exciting generation of young tight ends reshaping how the position is played in the NFL. As a Cowboys fan living on the other side of the world, staying up until stupid hours to watch him play, I've grown quite attached to tracking his journey.
There's something a bit special about realising a player you've backed from early on is still so young. When Ferguson was born on 23 January 2001, the Cowboys were preparing for another era entirely, and now here he is, catching passes from Dak Prescott at AT&T Stadium. I remember watching his rookie season in 2022 and thinking he seemed raw but promising. Fast forward a couple of years and he's become a genuine security blanket in the passing game. It's funny how birthdays put things in perspective — every 23 January, I find myself doing the mental maths and marvelling at how much he's achieved before most blokes his age have figured out their careers. He was barely 21 when he was drafted in the fourth round out of Wisconsin, and there's something rather endearing about that late-round chip-on-the-shoulder attitude he carries.
