National Reading Month 2025 Activities

National Reading Month 2025 arrives with renewed enthusiasm across schools, libraries, and communities, inviting readers of every age to rediscover the pleasure of the written word. Throughout March, organisers are hosting an array of engaging activities designed to spark curiosity, build literacy skills, and bring people together through shared stories. Whether you are a lifelong bookworm or picking up a novel for the first time in years, this year's programme offers something for everyone, from cosy indoor reading challenges to sunlit outdoor story sessions as the days grow longer.

Curate Your Reading Month Essentials

Part of the fun of National Reading Month is preparing your personal reading kit. Many participants are embracing the idea of keeping a dedicated card case for their library card, bookshop loyalty cards, and event tickets, ensuring they are always ready for spontaneous visits to second-hand bookshops or author signings. Libraries across the country are issuing special edition membership cards this month, and having a tidy place to store them adds a touch of occasion to every borrowing trip. Schools are also encouraging pupils to design their own bookmarks and reading passports, stamping each completed book along the way.

Take Your Books Outdoors This Spring
