Right, so I've finally done it. After years of hoarding games like some sort of digital magpie, I've decided to sell a chunk of my PlayStation 4 collection. It wasn't an easy decision, believe me. There's something genuinely sentimental about a shelf stacked with spines you've collected over nearly a decade. But with the PS5 sitting under my telly and space running out, it feels like the right time to let some of these gems find new homes. If you've been holding off on buying PS4 games, honestly, now is a brilliant time to grab some absolute bargains.
I'll be honest with you – sorting through my collection was a proper emotional experience. Picking up each case brought back a flood of memories. The late nights on Bloodborne, the countless hours wasted (happily) on FIFA with my mates, the time I finally platted Horizon Zero Dawn after months of grinding. There's a story behind every game I own, and letting go of even a few of them feels a bit like saying goodbye to old friends. But games are meant to be played, not just sat on a shelf gathering dust. If someone else can get the same joy from them that I did, that feels like a far better ending than them sitting forgotten in a box.
So what exactly am I selling? A proper mixed bag, to be fair. There are the big AAA titles – God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II – all in cracking condition with their cases and manuals intact. I've also got a few hidden gems that never got the attention they deserved, which honestly breaks my heart a little. Everything's been looked after properly; no scratched discs, no knackered cases. I'm listing them at fair prices because I'd rather they went to someone who'll actually play them than flog them for a fortune to a collector who'll never crack open the seal. Whether you're new to the PS4 or you've just dug yours out of a cupboard, there's something here for everyone.
Before you dive in, let me share a few things I've learnt over the years. First off, always check the disc condition – a few light scratches are usually fine, but deep gouges can cause real problems. Second, make sure you're buying from someone trustworthy, ideally with photos of the actual item rather than stock images. And third, don't forget that PS4 games hold their value brilliantly, so even if you decide to move them on later, you're unlikely to lose much. It's one of the reasons I always preferred physical copies over digital downloads, despite the convenience. There's just something reassuring about owning the disc itself.
If you're interested in anything from my collection, do get in touch. Everything's priced to sell, and I'd much rather have a proper chat about the games than flog them to faceless listings. The PS4 might be getting on a bit now, but it's still an utterly fantastic console with one of the best libraries in gaming history. Grab yourself a bargain and experience some of the greatest games ever made – trust me, you won't regret it.
