Reid Detmers has become one of the more compelling arms to follow in modern baseball, and few platforms capture his development as thoroughly as FanGraphs. Since then, FanGraphs' blend of traditional statistics and advanced pitch modeling has documented every twist in his professional journey, from prospect rankings to his emergence as a legitimate big-league starter.

FanGraphs' coverage of Detmers offers a masterclass in modern pitcher evaluation. Rather than relying solely on earned run average, the site's analysis digs into his underlying metrics: his curveball consistently grades among the most effective in baseball by pitch value and movement-based models, while his fastball and changeup determine how deep into games he can navigate. Tracking tools like expected ERA, whiff rate, and chase percentage paint a fuller picture of his performance than box scores alone. When Detmers opened the 2024 season with an unusually hot stretch, FanGraphs was quick to contextualize it, examining whether changes in fastball usage and velocity were sustainable or merely a streak riding on favorable sequencing. That kind of rigorous, data-driven commentary is precisely what separates analytical coverage from conventional game recaps, and it has made the site an essential resource for anyone evaluating the lefty's trajectory.
