Walk For Sight 2025

Walk for Sight 2025 returns this year as one of the most anticipated community events on the Australian calendar, bringing together families, researchers, clinicians and supporters in a shared mission to protect and restore vision. The annual walk raises vital funds for eye research and services for people who are blind or have low vision, while also encouraging Australians to consider their own eye health. With macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy affecting hundreds of thousands of people nationwide, events such as Walk for Sight play a crucial role in funding early detection programs, innovative treatments and, ultimately, the preservation of sight for future generations.

Participants can expect a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, with accessible routes designed so that people of all ages and abilities can take part. Whether walking five kilometres or completing a longer challenge course, every step contributes to a national effort to reduce preventable vision loss. Registration fees and sponsorship dollars go directly towards research initiatives, guide dog services, low-vision aids and community education programs. Many teams walk in honour of loved ones affected by vision impairment, turning the event into a moving display of solidarity and hope. Organisers encourage early registration, as the 2025 edition is expected to draw record numbers across capital cities and regional centres alike.

Seeing the World Through an Artist's Eyes: The Enduring Legacy of Van Gogh

Collection of Vincent van Gogh's iconic paintings, including swirling landscapes and vibrant portraits, displayed in a gallery setting

Few figures illustrate the profound connection between vision and human experience quite like Vincent van Gogh. His luminous canvases, swirling with colour and movement, remind us how precious the ability to perceive the world truly is. At Walk for Sight 2025, exhibitions and educational displays will draw on art of this kind to help attendees appreciate what is at stake when sight is threatened. For the millions of people living with vision impairment, and for the researchers working tirelessly on therapies and cures, the loss of the ability to view a masterpiece, a sunset or a loved one's face is deeply personal. The walk serves as a powerful reminder that investment in eye health is an investment in how we experience life itself.
