Why The Good Lie Deserves a Spot on Your Watchlist

Let's be honest — there are a million flicks vying for your attention on a Friday night, but The Good Lie is something special. Directed by Philippe Falardeau, the film follows Mamere, Paul, Jeremiah, Abital and Theo, young Sudanese refugees known as the Lost Boys and Girls, as they navigate the bewildering maze of American life after more than a decade in refugee camps. Reese Witherspoon plays Carrie, a brash employment agency worker who slowly warms to the newcomers, but the real heart of the film belongs to the Sudanese cast, several of whom had their own connections to the refugee experience.
